March 2017: Monthly Outfit Roundup on

Even though Texas never gets much of a Winter, I could definitely feel the coming of Spring this past month. Naturally, this made me gravitate towards flowers, and even (some) color! But what I really felt myself drawn to this month, more than anything, was accessories. I dug out some old rings and necklaces that I hadn’t worn in a while, and even my black hat! I also took a ribbon that I usually tie into a bow beneath collared blouses and wore it as a choker a couple of times. What can I say? I like big BOWS, and I cannot lie.. ;P

1. I loved this outfit, but I can remember being not too thrilled that the dye I used to color my hair that very day did not turn out as bold as the box led me to believe it would – it IS a noticeable red color in person, but you can’t see it at ALL in these photos.

2.“As Travars” – now THIS was a fun look. I hadn’t done a ‘closet cosplay’ in a while, but I wanted to try out this look of dressing up as one of my favorite fictional characters: Kell Maresh of V.E. Schwab’s “A Darker Shade of Magic” series. I was on my way to meet Miss Schwab, herself, at a book signing for “A Conjuring of Light”, and it was a great success! I went with the longer, more dramatic black coat – and she loved it. High fives to me.

3. This ‘top’ is actually a dress that I used to wear a ton in high school. I tucked it into my long black skirt for a fresh new look.. I think it worked out well.

4. PANTS! Since I’ve started documenting my daily outfits, I’ve come to the realization that I hardly wear pants anymore, haha. Why would I, when skirts and dresses are more fun, anyways?! But this day I was called to try a more ‘casual’ look.. and this lace kimono that I hardly ever get a chance to wear looked so lonely and I was craving it! Paired with a sleeveless band tee and my hat, I felt very boho cool. Maybe even a bit witchy 😉

5. What’s not to love about ruffles and stripes?!

6. If you’ve kept up with my OOTD posts for a while now, you might have noticed I have a deep, deep love and appreciation of circle skirts.. the bigger, the better. I had been coveting this Azalea skirt from Tatyana Boutique for a while, so when it finally went on sale I jumped on it, and I have no regrets. I even posted a fun video of me twirling in it on my Instagram!

7. TWO closet cosplays in one month! I had just watched the movie “Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart” and fell in love with the character of Miss Acacia. She felt like someone I could emulate, what with the Spanish-speaking, the dark hair, and the glasses. I really must get some more red rose hair clips, though. NEED MORE.

8. And, finally – I guess I was just really feeling red and black, lately. I’ve also been thinking of how badly I want to reread Erin Morgenstern’s “The Night Circus”, and in a weird way, this felt like kind of a circus-y getup to me.. I drew the little black heart on my face with eyeliner. Tell me why I haven’t done that before now? I freaking love it.

Overall, I really loved everything I wore this month! Honestly, I don’t know how I’m gonna do any better in April, but we’ll see!
